Antalya Culture and Arts of ACCI Foundation is pleased to announce its new spring exhibition, will be held between 30 March – 25 September 2016, Andy Warhol: Pop Art for Everyone.
Andy Warhol (1928-1987) began his career as a graphic designer and finished it as one of the most iconic names of the 20th century. Having been marginalized as a son of a Slovak rooted family, the American culture, that he both admired and criticized in later years, defined who he became. Warhol was one of the forerunners of American Pop Art.
In a material world, in which ideas, people, and events are being commodified, Warhol trivialized content and form by reducing everything to an object status through his techniques of replication and multiplication. He created a popular, transient, expendable, low-cost, mass-produced, young, witty, gimmicky, and glamorous art.
The exhibition is prepared especially for Antalya Arts and Culture, with selected works from the Zoya Museum Collection, one of the most significant private collections in Europe, bringing together the iconic series of Warhol. Included in the show are silkscreen series and drawings exhibited for the first time in Antalya and second in Turkey, iconic works such as Campbell’s Soup, Cowboys and Indians, Endangered Species, and Flowers, accompanied by portraits of well-known important figures.
"My fascination with letting images repeat and repeat - or in film's case 'run on' - manifests my belief that we spend much of our lives seeing without observing." Andy Warhol
